M.A.C Fluidline vs Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On pencil

I recently went on a shopping spree at M.A.C. (so what's new?) and I couldn't resist the special edition holiday goodies that they have! I got 2 eyeshadow palettes and the eye set which comes with - a Naughty Noir bag - MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack - eyeliner brush - Zoomlash mascara - MAC eye pigment in Shimmertime.

2 eyeshadow palettes from the holiday edition

Eye set from M.A.C.'s holiday edition (missing from photo is the gel liner brush applicator)

I am such a sucker for cosmetics! I really need to control myself. Ah well...since i spent a whole lot of money on cosmetics, I might as well put my stuff into good use and share with all what I think of some of the products that I have. PLEASE bear in mind that this is my opinion on the product. I am not a makeup guru or whatnot. This is just to share my experiences on some of the products that I got. They may be true for me but may not entirely applicable to you.

So here goes...
Here's my take on eyeliner pencil vs a gel eye liner.
I've always had issues with applying eyeliner onto my upper lids and could never perfect the art of winging the edges out to produce a cat-eye effect. Despite what all the makeup gurus on youtube say, I.just.can't.do.it. Not even with the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on pencil which I raved about in my earlier post or with my Sephora liquid eye liner.

Urban Decay Glide-on 24/7 Eye Pencil

Pros
Yes yes I know I said that the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on pencil was all fab and all. It is great to use - especially when it is brand new. When it's brand new, the 24/7 glideon pencil works like a dreaaaam because of it's sharp/pointed tip. It is indeed very creamy and very easy to apply on the eye lids.

Cons
Because of the creaminess of the pencil tip, the pencil tip is soft and very difficult to sharpen. It gets blunt easily and takes me like 2-3 times to sharpen the pencil before it's considered satisfactory - to me. I got to then clean the tip with a tissue and squeeze the tip to sharpen it further and ensure that there are no access at the tip of the pencil. After that, the pencil just don't work well for me.
To top that, I found that after 7-8 hours, the eye liner from my bottom lashes actually smudged downward even when I used the Urban Decay Primer Potion as a base.

Would I buy this again? Probably no but unfortunately, my online order for Urban Decay 24/7 Super Stash is already on its way to my doorstep. So what I'll probably do with them is instead of using then as an eyeliner, I will use them as an eye lid base - a base to make the eyeshadow colors POP - similar to what this makeup guru did in this video at 0:45.

M.A.C. Fluidline gel-liner in Blacktrack
THIS is my current favourite eye liner. It is a gel-liner and you gotta use a really small pointed eyeliner brush to apply the gel liner.
Pros
I feel that there is better control using the eyeliner brush to apply the gel-liner onto the top and bottom lashes. It is super easy to wing out the edges to create a cat-eye effect.
I don't have to set the gel-liner with a black eye shadow on top of it to increase its staying power as opposed to using a eyeliner pencil - so this saves me a minute or two when doing my make up *wink* I definite prefer this product to Sephora liquid eyeliner...perhaps i haven't mastered the art of using a liquid eyeliner applicator to apply my eye liner? Perhaps perhaps. But as of now, my go-to for eye liner is the M.A.C. Fluidline gel liner.
Cons
I've only got good things to say about MAC's Fluidline in Blacktrack.
Would I buy this product again? You bet I would!

you have mail!

After waiting for close to 3 weeks for my online purchases to arrive, I finally heard the glorious sound of my doorbell! and I just knew, that the postman was here to deliver my package :) Finally! Yay! So here's what I got :) Check it out!

All the products were individually bubble wrapped!. I like!

Here's what I got!

Urban Decay Urban Ammo Eye Palette AND the infamous Urban Decay EyeShadow Primer Potion. I've heard so many good reviews about this product and juuust HAD to get it and try it out for myself. I havent swatched the eye shadows yet cause they look all too perfect!!! Didn't want to ruin the nice thread-like surface on the eyeshadows!

Tadahhhh..this is how it looks like when you open the palette and there's also a mirror on the cover.

Next, I got Urban Decay Book of Shadows Vol II

My lighting didn't give much justice to the eye shadow colors but they are really gorgeous! And the set also came with Urban Decay's infamous 24/7 Gilde On Pencil (eye liner) (which are soooo nice and creamy and easy to use) and a travel size eyesahdow Primer Potion. I could not, for the life of me wing out my eye liner using other pencil eye liners but it's effortless when using Urban Decay's 24/7 eyeliner.

I've heard sooo much about NARS Blush in Orgasm and thought I check it out myself. Haven't used it yet. Haven't swatched it yet. I wanna admire it first without swatching it for now :)

And lastly, I got a little freebie - which is an Urban Decay lipstick. My 4yo daughter saw me opening this lippie and immediately dried her lips with the back of her end, assuming that I would apply it on her lips- which I did after seeing her enthusiasm! It glided on smoothly onto her lips, it's very pigmented and creamy.

Unfortunately Urban Decay does not exist in Malaysia. They have these at Sephora and the nearest Sephora is at Singapore. If any of you Malaysians still want to get these stuff, you can check out the sprees here. I can't stay away from that forum.
I still have somemore makeup stuff which I am expecting to arrive in the next 2-3 weeks. Can't wait!!!
All right then! Can't wait to use all those products!
Here is a video review of the Urban Decay Book of Shadows Vol II palette I found on YouTube. Enjoy!

You know you're a makeup addict when....

...you dream about makeup/cosmetics!

I had the weirdest dream 2 nights ago. I dreamt that I washed my Sigma 239 eye shadow brush and then HORROR HORROR!! When it dried, the bristles were elongated and the bristles looked like a feather duster! Believe you me. That was one heck-of-a weird dream. It's probably because I started washing all my new Sigma brushes that day. Anyway, I did a research on how to wash makeup brushes and watched a few how-to vids on YouTube before washing my own. I was a bit relcutant to wash them at first because the bristles were so so so........perfect when new! and I was afraid that I may jinx it after the wash :P But anywayyyyyyssss....I washed them before use.

Here are a couple of vids I watched before washing my new set of brushes.

I used the MAC brush cleanser (as opposed to homemade brush cleaners)

Love this look using Too Faced Smokey Eye Palette

I've been watching a couple of makeup videos on YouTube by some of the makeup gurus out there and man...Hats off to these gurus! They put alot of effort in making those videos in the spirit of sharing!

Check this video out! Loveeee the look!. And I am such a sucker! I went ahead and ordered a Too Faced Smokey eye palette for myself :P *grins*

If you're in Malaysia, well, too bad. You can't find this product here. Well not that I know of. And Sephora is not in Malaysia (but in our neighbouring country, Singapore). So, like all the other deprived vain pots (like me) who wants to get stuff which they don't sell here in Malaysia, I went to this forum and ordered it from there. They have ongoing sprees and don't have to pay an arm & a leg for shipping charges and all because the host of the spree orders in bulk. Can't wait for my package to arrive :)

Sigma Makeup Brushes

Lookie here! I've been waiting for the longesttttt time for this to arrive and finally, after close to 3 weeks, I heard the magical ring of my doorbell! I rushed to the door to see the postman personally delivering the package to me and the moment I saw what was in his hand, I just knew that it was the package that I've been waiting for!!!! Yes,it's my Sigma Makeup Brushes! I bought the Sigma Makeup Professiona Brushes Complete Kit because I heard sooo many good reviews about this Mac dupe brushes and just HAD to get it. I paid like USD 100 including international shipping to Malaysia and it it way cheaper than getting complete makeup brush set from MAC. Ok, so I haven't used them yet but I am already LOVING the brushes! They have nice long handles to them and has some weight to it which gives you a better control in handling the brush and the brushes are soooooo nice and soft!!!....and NOOooo... i am not a professional makeup artist or anything. Can't a girl own a nice set of makeup brushes? *grins*

My 4yo daughter was as excited as me when I gleefully opened the package. The feeling was synonymous to opening a Christmas pressie during Boxing Day! I opened the bubble-wrapped envelope and voila! Mama Mia!!!! Everything was packed in a see-through organza kinda drawstring bag.

The makeup brushes bag is in soft black synthetic material (almost leathery) and it's just so nice to hold it! It came with instructions on :
1. How to clean the makeup brushes
2. How to use each makeup brush
Anddddd...they sent a free gift which is a travel-size SS217 brush - which is great blending and crease brush.

Voila..when you open up the makeup brush roll, you can see that each brush is individually wrapped!

Annnyway, can't wait to use them! *happily scoots off *
xoxo

Shopping Haunts blogs!

Here's a little about me....

I am thirty-something and a mother of 2 kids, living in Malaysia. Mother or not, thirty-something or not, I am just a girl. Who. Loves. To. Shop! Period :) During my pre-kids days, I took the time to update my wardrobe every so often, and also took time to shop around. Then wham-bam! 2 kids popped outta me and the next 4 years were spent on baby/kids/parenting and all that jazz. The first priority was to the kids and all and not much time was spent on my shopping escapades for the very obvious reasons!!! Then I realised...hey! My kids are 2 and 4...and I've got a long way to go right in terms of raising them and all and I still need to look good, still need to update my wardrobe (obviously) since oh-come on already!?! I can't fit into ALL my pre-pregger days' clothing - that's for sure! Hence I am consciously and actively looking out for new shopping haunts for all my jewelry, cosmetic and clothing. Right now, I am SOOOO into a make-up/cosmetic phase at the moment for the last 1 month! Let's see how long this'll last cause as of today, it has caused a huge hole in my pocket!

So stick around, enjoy! and I will share with you what I have bought and from where....and I would really love to hear from you too!
